Welcome friends and family to the web site for Sandra Emerling. This is a place where Sandy lives. She lives here as she does in our hearts and memories. This is a place where we can treasure and share stories, pictures and thoughts about Sandy. Of course most of you know all about Sandy. For those of you who knew her just a bit but want to learn more, here is a brief introduction. Sandy was born in 1957 to Muriel and Ken Emerling in South Euclid, Ohio. She was the big sister to younger brothers David and Larry. Muriel can tell you endless, colorful stories about their warm, loving childhood. Many stories feature Honey the dachshund. Sandy was a protective big sis who forged a close, life long bond with her siblings. She was a smart one from the start. Muriel had her hands full keeping Sandy challenged at school. Sandy went to Miami of Ohio where she majored in business and became a CPA. After a couple of years in the work force (IRS), she attended law school at Cleveland Marshall. Her career included work in state tax at TRW and Ernst and Young in Cleveland. The years as a young adult in Cleveland were special because Sandy had a chance to forge many close friendships, as well as staying close with her childhood friends. While her bothers moved to Detroit, Sandy established her own charming home around the block from her parents. Her love of family and close friendships were a priority for her then and ever after. She also discovered jazzercise, an activity that grew in importance over the years.

Around 1996, Sandy was offered a great job at GE in Connecticut. She boldly accepted the offer, insisting it would only be for five years. This was mainly to comfort herself into thinking it was only a temporary move away from all the people in Cleveland she loved so much. She bought a house on a hill and turned it into a home as the years ticked by. It surprised us all how happy Sandy was in Connecticut.

She met such warm, lovely people that became her family there. She found that jazzercise filled her evenings with healthy fun and friendships. She blossomed in Connecticut and began to transform herself. She discovered fashion, fitness trainers, decorating and dating websites. As Sandy put it, she wanted to “shake things up and try something new”. But fundamentally, inside Sandy remained the same beautiful person we all love so much! Here are some of the things that come to mind about

Sandy: generosity, winning awards for pro bono legal work, donating to so many causes, lovely, thoughtful, creative gifts, always reading a combination of “trash” books and good literature, Caribou coffee, herbal teas, chocolate, quick, sharp mind, tiny, precise writing, good advice, always very thorough and completely reliable, opinionated, strong, awarded a stellar award for saving GE 28 million dollars in one year, love of family and family trips, making everyone feel included, up early, organizing, planning gatherings for friends and family, jazzercise, chatting with her nieces and nephew, playing cards with friends, making a humorous remark about her mom or brothers, calling to talk, traveling, visiting friends and family along the way, embroidery artist, castle collector, fan of Sedona, allegedly writing a book about her mom largely based on the humor filled e mails that flew back and forth between Muriel and the three siblings.

This is just a brief look at the very important and special life of Sandy. The rest of this important story with its rich details is to be told by all of you.
